Hyden is situated 347 kilometres north of Albany. More than 130,000 tourists visit the town every year on their way to the famous Wave Rock. Wave Rock is just four kilometres east of Hyden on a nature reserve of some 160 hectares. The Rock is a granite cliff, 15 metres high and 110 long, shaped remarkably like a huge wave. Geologists believe the original granite formation has been sculptured and coloured by weather, water and chemical erosion over 2.7 billion years to take on its wave like character.

Spend the day exploring Hyden and the Wave Rock attractions before returning to Perth through Kondinin 59km to the
West, Kulin 23km further west and home of the Tin Horse Highway, and 62km to the Dog in a Ute town, Corrigin, and back to Perth.
You’ll experience the many Natural Wonders of the Wheatbelt. Curtains of bark and the sleek shining trunks of stately salmon gum and gimlet greet visitors to the woodlands of the Wheatbelt in autumn (March to May). Carpets of pink and yellow everlastings, roadside verges festooned in wattle and a great diversity of flowering shrubs delight the visitor in winter and spring (July to October). There’s no better way to see & feel the magic of the vast Australian continent than aboard the mighty Indian Pacific – one of the world’s greatest train journeys. The transcontinental journey from Perth to Sydney covers 4,352 km’s & you’ll overnight aboard the train for three nights. The great train offers optional off-train sightseeing tours at scheduled stops at Broken Hill, Adelaide & gold rich Kalgoorlie. A remote outpost on the Nullarbor Plain called Cook (population 2) presents a further opportunity to stretch your legs.

The train departs Perth on Sunday’s & Wednesday’s at 11.55am. Setting off from Perth, your train climbs through the scenic Avon Valley and into Western Australia's expansive wheat belt, before arriving late evening at your first stop in the city of Kalgoorlie.
Today the landscape takes on a richer hue as the journey moves through the mallee scrub into the ancient Nullarbor Plain, with the landscape unmarked by the passing millennia. At a remote outpost on the Nullarbor Plain called Cook (population 2) you will have an opportunity to stretch your legs during a scheduled stop to experience Australia’s vast open spaces from a unique perspective.
Arriving into Adelaide the following morning you can choose to break your journey for a few days touring this picturesque city, or continue directly on to Broken Hill, with its countless tales of riches won and lost. From here you'll travel through some of Australia's most productive farming country and into the arid outback as the sun sets. Next morning is the finale of your journey through the spectacular Blue Mountains.
Depending on your departure day from Perth, you will arrive in Sydney at 10.15am on either Wednesday or Saturday.
