A gently winding 5km ascent brings you to the twin peaks of Mt Mitchell, an extinct volcano named in 1828 by botanist and explorer Allan Cunningham in honour of the Surveyor-General Thomas Mitchell.
The walk takes in sheer cliff faces and breathtaking views over the Scenic Rim and Fassifern Valley and offers the opportunity to discover local wildlife and plant species along the way. Day 1 concludes with an easy descent into Spicers Peak Station, following the ridgeline back to Canopy Eco Lodge in time for a gourmet dinner.

Walking time: 6.5 hours

Day 2: Miller Vale Creek Walk

A relaxing day spent exploring the nooks and crannies of Millar Vale Creek. Setting off after a hearty breakfast, your guide will introduce you to the rich local history of the area, which is believed to have been the original route for indigenous traders passing across the Great Dividing Range from inland Australia to the coast.
Throughout the day you’ll have the chance to learn more about the local flora and fauna, including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, and a wide range of colourful and occasionally noisy birdlife. On your return to Canopy Eco Lodge you can enjoy a host of on-site activities, or simply wind down by the fireside.
Distance: 6.5km
Walking time: 4.5 hours

Day 3: Spicers Canopy – Spicers Peak Lodge

Follow in the footsteps of the early settlers and see a part of Queensland that even today only a handful of people have been lucky enough to experience. The trail leads through the dense rainforest of Spicers Peak, complete with giant ferns and awe-inspiring 1,000-year-old hoop pines, before opening out to reveal panoramic views of Spicers Gap and the Great Dividing Range.
Day 3 draws to a close at Spicers Peak Lodge, with an evening of well-deserved pampering and gourmet dining – the perfect end to a truly unforgettable adventure. Today’s hike is graded hard – grade 4.
Distance: 15km
Walking time: 8 hours

Day 4: Northern Lookout

Take an early morning hike at 7.00am with your guide who will provide an in-depth look at the history and creation around Spicers Peak Lodge, as well as further interpretation of the plant and animal life along the way.
Upon your arrival at the Northern Lookout you will view Spicers Canopy through the mountains, tracing your journey over the last few days. Enjoy a tea or coffee here at the lookout before walking back up to the lodge for a tasty breakfast.
Transfers will be provided back to Brisbane or your vehicles at around 11.00am.
